Results: Wanheng Menayothin, 49-0, closes on Floyd Mayweather, Pink Tyson, John Joe Nevin win

The 32 year-old, who has plenty of time on his side, saw off the challenge of unheralded contender Tatsuya Fukuhara in what was a hard-fought unanimous victory.

Wanheng has now made eight successful defenses and kept up a run of 24 bouts without a win for Japanese challengers on Thai soil.

At 49-0 with 17 stoppages, Wanheng can equal Mayweather’s record in his next bout and join the pound for pound legend, who reached his half century with an August triumph over Conor McGregor.

On Friday night, ‘Pink Tyson’ aka Kallia Kourouni made her debut under the Hennessy Sports / YouTube PPV banner with a close points win over Bojana Libiszewska.

Tyson has caused quite a stir in the build-up and did just enough to begin her new spell gaining UK exposure with a ten round points victory.

On the undercard, John Joe Nevin moved to 9-0 with a six-round decision over Lee Connelly.

Connelly out-weighed Nevin considerably on the night, but that didn’t halt the former amateur star from taking every round.
