The 32 year-old defended his WBC heavyweight title in some style, beating his chest before striking Stiverne with a strong one-two for knockdown number one midway through the first.
Wilder immediately pounced to send Stiverne to the canvas again straight away, although the worse was yet to come for the overweight challenger.
A final attack with just seconds left of the round rendered Stiverne almost unconscious and helpless as the official struggled to contain Wilder’s onslaught.
‘The Bronze Bomber’ did exactly what he said he was going to do pre-fight and has now halted every single opponent he’s faced inside the squared circle.
After the bout and speaking to Jim Gray of Showtime, Wilder reiterated his desire to unify the championships after what has been a hard few months to take.
Yet another opponent in Luis Ortiz failed a drugs test to rob Wilder of the opportunity to take on one of the best in the division.
“So much frustration. It just seems like my career has been crazy,” said Wilder. “So many guys ducking, so many guys using PED’s (performance enhancing drugs). I just want to prove that I am the best!”
In the co-feature, Shawn Porter engaged in a firefight with a dogged Adrian Granados in the early rounds as the former world welterweight title holder battled to a 28th career win.
The 30 year-old wanted to mix it with the Mexican from the off and was obviously pushing to become the first fighter to stop Granados in 26 contests.
Several tickings off from father and trainer Kenny Porter didn’t seem to get through as the American traded leather for the duration of an entertaining scrap.
Granados took some huge punches but Porter just couldn’t end the fight early to his clear frustration.
Landing the cleaner, better work was enough for Porter to pick up the all-important rounds to see out a victory on the cards and move towards a world title shot in 2018.
Final scores were 117-111 all in favor of Porter who tired late on due to the pace of his relentless attacks.
In the aftermath, Porter revealed a hand injury that could delay a potential rematch with Keith Thurman.
