P4P Update: Anthony Joshua unmoved despite Carlos Takam win

Anthony Joshua’s victory over Carlos Takam meant the Pound for Pound Top went unchanged this week in the first update of November 2017.

The British brute dominated Takam for the duration of the contest. He seemed to struggle after coming in at a career-high 254 pounds on the scales.

‘AJ’ remains in the 15th spot following his superb win over Wladimir Klitschko in April. It was a triumph that initially saw Joshua break into the Top 50 for the first time.

Luis Nery and Shinsuke Yamanaka were two fighters set for removal from the ratings for very different reasons. However, they retain their positions at 45 and 48 respectively.

Gennady Golovkin is still top on the back of Andre Ward’s retirement. At the same time, Vasyl Lomachenko has the chance to end that run dependent on how his clash with sixth-place Guillermo Rigondeaux pans out.

Both fighters are threats to ‘GGG’ ahead of their encounter next month. 2018 could well be the year of third-ranked Terence Crawford.
