Kell Brook to Amir Khan: Stop playing Floyd Mayweather kiss-chase, let me retire you!

Khan, 30, pointed out he was on top against Canelo Alvarez in 2016 before being viciously knocked out and that he would be one of very few boxers who could cause Mayweather problems if they met.

“I know it’s been a year I’ve not fought due to hand surgery. I’m ready to make comeback at 30 years of age,” said Khan on Monday.

“Say what you like Canelo was getting out-boxed. I was winning on cards. He had power and caught me with a huge right. That’s boxing. Mayweather doesn’t have the power.

“In any fight, I’ve never been outboxed. A Mayweather-Khan fight would be a game of chess. Speed movement and accuracy will cause him problems.”

Brook then fired back with: “If you wanna play kiss-chase with retired men, (it’s a) shame really. Get in with me and I’ll fast-track you into collecting your pension!”

A fight between Khan and Brook was hot property in 2015 and the early part of 2016 but has gone considerably off the boil since both suffered devastating losses.

Promoter Eddie Hearn is still known to be planning a salvation job for the bout, potentially for the summer of 2018, although Khan has insisted on calling out Danny Garcia for a rematch next year.

Brook is extremely tight at 147 pounds, possibly should have moved up a year ago, meaning the clock is firmly ticking on the pair getting their act together to seal any future deal.
