Anthony Joshua offers to ‘support and help’ Tyson Fury with 2018 clash in mind

As Joshua prepares for his next defence against replacement Carlos Takam in Cardiff on October 28, the 2012 Olympic gold medallist revealed Fury is on his hitlist for the coming year.

Speaking to Darren Gough during a radio interview this week, Joshua was asked whether he wants to secure the Fury fight in 2018, to which he replied, ‘yes’ before then explaining that the two speak to each other about the possibility.

“I’ve managed to contact him – he’s managed to contact me and everything you probably see on social is the same thing that happens behind the scenes,” Joshua told talkSPORT.

Joshua also offered his services to help Fury get himself in fighting shape, mentally and physically, as a British license issue still hangs over the 28 year-old’s career and contributes to a near two-year absence.

“Besides all that (fighting him), if there’s anything I can do to help support and help him get back in ring, I would do because we need people like him it brings out the best in the sport, it brings eyes to the sport and it benefits everyone,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to him getting back and adding a bit more dust to the storm because he’s talented he’s a good fighter,” added Joshua.

Fury recently outlined his intention to fight three times next year but has distanced himself from the British Boxing Board of Control, which could hinder any hopes to stage a fight with Joshua on UK soil if unresolved.
