The 24 year-old ex-world title challenger moved to 11-1 by defeating journeyman Craig Derbyshire easing through every round of eight, just hours after scrapping a British super-flyweight defence against Matthew Chanda.
Edwards relinquished the Lonsdale Belt in favour of more lucrative options, leaving Chanda to fight for the UK strap at a later date.
As the Surrey man explained prior to the victory, a future world title clash with Kal Yafai is at the forefront of his mind.
“My goal has always been to become a world champion and I believe my team have me on the right path for that to happen,” Yafai told Matt Horan, formerly of World Boxing News and now of Sky Sports.
“I’m not sure how far I am from the world scene, I just face whoever they put in front of me.
“I have a great British rival in Kal Yafai and that’s a big domestic showdown that I’m sure the fans will want to see down the line.
“The division is flying on the world scene and I look forward to eventually being a part of it.”
The young contender has won three on the spin since losing to John Riel Casimero for the IBF championship a year ago, in a fight many believe came slightly too soon for Edwards against a tough champion.
