Amir Khan rules out fighting Kell Brook now, wants a ‘couple of wins’

The 30 year-old is still hoping to make a comeback in December following a knockout loss to Canelo Alvarez way back in May 2016, although a massive all-UK clash with Brook is not in his immediate thoughts.

“For me and Kell Brook at the moment, I think the fight could be bigger if we both get a couple of wins,” Khan told Sky Sports.

“If we get a couple of wins, I think it will be a massive fight. It will be a big fight now, but it will be a massive fight if we wait maybe another fight.

“One hundred per cent, I would love that fight.”

Khan has had a mass of personal problems to deal with in the seventeen months since he last fought as his marriage has fallen apart amongst a host of public scandals.

In boxing terms though, the Bolton man is eyeing up a ranked fighter in the coming months – possibly in the UK, prior to a potential revenge mission against Danny Garcia or Lamont Peterson – all before Brook.

This means fans could be forced to wait until the summer of 2019 for the contest to come to fruition, by which time Brook will have settled into 154 pounds and require Khan to move up and join him.
