Certain bookmakers don't believe it's a foregone conclusion that Anthony Crolla will face Brit rival Luke Campbell on the back of his closely-fought battle with Ricky Burns.
The former world champions endured twelve expected rounds of war on Saturday night at Manchester Arena until Crolla eventually had his hands raised via a unanimous decision.
Immediate talk in the aftermath switched to Crolla v Campbell, although Burns has been angling for a return in Glasgow and odds makers at Betway wouldn't completely bet against it.
An all-Manchester super-fight between Crolla and WBO title holder Terry Flanagan seems destined not to happen though, at least in the immediate future.
Betway’s Alan Alger, said: “After Anthony Crolla got back to winning ways with an impressive points victory over Ricky Burns on Saturday, another ‘Battle of Britain’ could follow as he turns his attention to domestic lightweight rival Luke Campbell.
“Campbell’s stock has risen in recent weeks after a closely-fought showdown with Crolla’s nemesis Jorge Linares. With both fighters previously expressing their interest in facing each other, it’s 6/4 for Crolla to step into the ring with the 2012 gold medallist in a fight that would pave the way for another world title shot.
“’Million Dollar’ Crolla won’t be short of options. He also entertained the possibility of a rematch in Burns’ backyard in Glasgow during his post-fight interview and it’s 2/1 for the pair to meet again. A trilogy with Jorge Linares remains an unlikely shot at 16/1, though.”
