Monster! Naoya Inoue brutalizes Antonio Nieves with body attacks in standout victory

The Japanese superstar, nicknamed ‘Monster’, introduced himself to the United States crowd with a special performance over an out-of-depth challenger.

Inoue targetted the body from the off, scoring a knockdown in the fifth and beating Nieves from pillar-to-post in the sixth.

Nieves’ corner made the correct decision to pull their man out after six completed rounds as Inoue moved on to potential unification in the coming months.

Also on the bill, Juan Francisco Estrada booked himself a WBC super-flyweight title shot with what seemed a convincing victory over Carlos Cuadras.

Estrada bossed the second half of the fight and scored a knockdown for good measure, but only took the fight 114-113 on the cards.

WBN’s scorecard had it 117-110 in favor of Estrada, although there were huge gasps when Michael Buffer read the judges’ tallies wrong and initially declarec Cuadras the winner.

In the end, the correct fighter prevailed in a superb showdown that any boxing fan would be happy to see again in the future,

Brian Viloria engaged in a straight shootout with Miguel Cartagena until the superior power of ‘Hawaiian Punch’ ultimately took over.

The former world champion was on his way to a certain victory, although referee Raul Caiz Sr. may have been guilty of stepping in a little too soon.

Both fighters enjoyed their moments in the initial rounds, but Viloria’s experience saw him through and got the job done in the fifth.

Earlier, welterweight prospect Nick Frese made it to 6-0 with a four round unanimous decision win over Nam Phan before super-lightweight George Acosta did similar in his bout with Derick Bartlemay. Acosta is now 3-0.

In the female light flyweight division, Seniesa Estrada took every round of eight from Anahi Torres to improved to 11-0, prior to Ruslan Madiev punching his way to a 10th pro win on points against Abdiel Ramirez.
