Despite Mayweather himself admitting (maybe using mind-game tactics) that he’s, ‘not the fighter he was two years ago’, Eubank Jr. says little has changed since ‘Money’ eased passed career rival Manny Pacquiao in 2015.
“Watching Floyd train over the last three weeks in my opinion he’s in just as good condition as he was when I watched him train for (Marcos) Maidana (in 2014) and Pacquiao,” said the IBO title holder, who is in the United States preparing for his first bout in the forthcoming World Boxing Super Series against Avni Yildrim in early September.
Eubank went on: “Even though Conor has never had a pro boxing match Floyd is not taking this fight lightly, he is going to bring it and I know Conor is never the type to back down, so I expect there to be some serious action come August 26.”
Mayweather’s odds have continually fallen as more stipulations favor two-weight UFC champion McGregor.
Smaller gloves, ruling out Kenny Bayliss as referee and the addition of an international judge has meant McGregor is now just 3/1 against to pull off what many in the sport see as an impossibility.
Judging by Eubank’s words from close quarters, Mayweather is keeping something back for fight night, and at fractions of 1/4 on, big money could be made by those willing to put it on the line for the 40 year-old.
