Frank Buglioni set to face Callum Johnson, Anthony Yarde out of Hosea Burton running

The British Boxing Board of Control confirmed the contest earlier this month, with promoter Eddie Hearn at Matchroom Boxing winning the rights to stage the mouth-watering encounter.

‘Wise Guy’ Buglioni is riding high on the back of three straight victories after losing out in his first world title challenge against Fedor Chudinov in September 2015.

For Johnson, 31, the Buglioni opportunity is a further chance to add silverware followingh the Scot’s Commonwealth title triumph opposite Willbeforce Shihepo in September of last year.

The BBBofC also called for an eliminator featuring ex-Buglioni foe Hosea Burton and Frank Warren’s 175 pound star Anthony Yarde, although the latter was pulled from the stipulated fight.

Yarde is already lined up to face Ryan Ford at Copper Box Arena next month and Warren seems to be pushing the Londoner in a different direction.

An official British Boxing circular stating the following:

LIGHT HEAVY WEIGHT – FRANK BUGLIONI (Holder) v CALLUM JOHNSON

Following agreement being reached between the parties the above contest to be promoted by Eddie Hearn, will take place on a date and at a venue as yet to be advised.

HOSEA BURTON v ANTHONY YARDE

Anthony Yarde withdrew from the above final eliminator contest.

The light-heavyweight scene is one of the hottest around in the UK at the moment, with a host of young stars making their way through the ranks.
