Eubank Jr. unfazed by German venue, plans to chin-test Yildirim

The 27 year-old, who currently holds the IBO championship, faces undefeated German-based Turk Avni Yildirim in the maiden stage of the inaugural tournament in a bid to set-up a massive all-UK encounter with George Groves or Jamie Cox.

Eubank Jr. has spent the vast majority of his career fighting on home soil but makes the transition to further Eastern Europe in what could turn out to be the most important fight of the Brighton man’s career to date.

“The Muhammad Ali Trophy is a great idea and I am thrilled to be a part of the World Boxing Super Series,” said Eubank Jr.

“I don’t mind about fighting in Germany. I honestly don’t mind where I fight. I could be fighting in a phone box. It really doesn’t matter to me as long as I get the win that’s all I care about.”

On facing Yildirim, who is 16-0 with 10 KO’s, Eubank added: “Yildirim’s chin hasn’t been tested, I will test it to the absolute limit and if it has even the slightest bit of weakness he won’t last six rounds.”

Yildirim was picked out by Eubank’s father Chris Sr. from a choice of American Robert Brand and his eventual selection, something which had raised a few eyebrows at the WBSS Draft Draw event in Monte Carlo last month.

Many see Yildirim as a tougher test than Brant, although Senior was happy with his eventual decision on the night and has full belief his son can have his hand raised in all three contests and walk away with of a trio of world titles.
