Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua: Mike Tyson was a beast, he would have battered me!

Tyson ruled the sport from 1985 to 1990 when becoming the youngest ever title holder at 200 pounds plus, before going on to eventually become the Pay-Per-View master during the late 1990’s and early 2000’s.

‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ steamrolled through every opponent until his career imploded due to lack of discipline against James ‘Buster’ Douglas and Joshua was in awe of the Tyson of old.

“Mike Tyson would have battered me!” Joshua told The Express when asked how he’d fare against the American. “There was no way I could have taken on that guy. I would have taken that pay cheque.

“You know what I done against Klitschko in that 6th round when I took that dive? I’m joking. I would have taken a dive against Tyson. He was a beast.

“I give all credit and respect to Tyson. Even though Tyson is going on like 50 now, I still remember Tyson as the young, young 21-year-old.

“He was that good and made such an impact in the sport of boxing.”

Joshua defeated Wladmir Klitschko earlier this year to place himself at the pinnacle of boxing and is currently looking towards a rematch in a bid to cement his position.

The likes of Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder and Kubrat Pulev are possibilities in the coming year, provided Joshua can come through Klitschko in better fashion in November.
