‘The Notorious’ has been linked to a cross-codes bout with Mayweather for some time now and finally has something concrete in place following months of speculation.
Despite initially hoping to make the deal away from his home at UFC, McGregor negotiated a deal involving current boss Dana White and all that’s needed to make the fight official is a signature from Mayweather himself.
“It is an honour to sign this record breaking deal alongside my partners Zuffa LLC, The Ultimate Fighting Championship and Paradigm Sports Management,” McGregor stated on The Mac Life.
“The first, and most important part of this historic contract has now officially been signed off on. Congratulations to all parties involved. We now await Al Haymon and his boxer’s signature in the coming days.”

McGregor and Mayweather had been eyeing a date in Las Vegas on September 16 but were recently beaten to the punch by Golden Boy and K2’s deal to make Gennady Golovkin v Canelo.
A new date is set to be thrashed out soon but is still expected to take place at the T-Mobile Arena or MGM Grand in Nevada’s boxing capital.
With Mayweather currently in the UK overseeing preparation for Gervonta Davis’ latest defense against Liam Walsh in London, nothing is set to be forthcoming from ‘The Money Team’ side until after the fight.
It could be a tense few days for all concerned.
