Kubrat Pulev dominates Kevin Johnson in Sofia, awaits Joshua v Klitschko winner

Pulev is the mandatory challenger for the winner of the massive clash between Anthony Joshua and former opponent Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday and faced Johnson in a bid to ensure there were no slip ups.

The 35 appeared to claim every single round of the twelve round fight at the Armeec Arena, although one judge was generous enough to give ‘Kingpin’ one of the sessions for a 119-109 score.

Cards of 120-108 twice were a fair reflection of the contest though as Johnson lost for the seventh time in his last nine bouts.

In reality, Pulev was always too good for the wily veteran and can now sit back and relax as Joshua and Klitschko go at it for three world titles at Wembley Stadium.

Other results:

Headliner Kubrat Pulev’s brother Tervel Pulev had no problems dispatching Jakub Wojcik in the third, whilst Danail Stanoev dropped Ivailo Boyanov three times on his way to a seventh round stoppage victory,

Cruiserweight Kai Robin Havnaa took five rounds to defeat Laszlo Ivanyi, improving his record to 10-0 in the process before Leon Bunn halted Slobodan Culum in two rounds in what was his fourth pro bout.

Yosko Stoychev pushed his record to 8-0 as the light-heavyweight prospect out-pointed Stanislav Sergeev over six, whilst Yosif Panov did similar to Borislav Zankov in their middleweight match-up.

Later on the bill, heavyweight Albon Pervizaj scored his second win since turning pro by getting Lazar Stojanovic out of there in two sessions.
