Exclusive: Billy Joe Saunders confident of GGG win, open to Miguel Cotto if talks collapse

The Briton had been in talks with Golovkin’s people prior to the Kazakh puncher’s victory over Daniel Jacobs earlier this month and told WBN recently he’s already agreed a monetary offer on the table.

Saunders is willing to travel to Kazakhstan in order to make his unification dream come true and says it doesn’t matter where the fight is held as the WBO title holder is adamant he has the four-belt champion’s number.

“He obviously wants the fight in Kazakhstan because it’s his dream to fight there,” Saunders exclusively told World Boxing News.

“I know he looks at me and I’m all wrong in every way for him, but I know coming to Kazakhstan I’m two rounds down before the bell goes.

“I’m willing to go out there and put it all on the line, my world title on the line. I’m willing to do that for my dream to come true as this is my dream fight too, not just Golovkin’s.

“He’s not a bad fella but it’s just business. This fight can make history and I believe I’ve got the tools in my armoury to beat him.”

Golovkin and his team are seemingly stalling on finalizing the contracts for a fight that have been actively seeking for some time and Saunders is already eyeing up Puerto Rican legend Miguel Cotto as a replacement.

“I’m willing to give Golovkin everything he wants to make the fight happen. I would love it to happen and get it on with him this summer,” he reiterated.

“I’ve got no personal grudge or hate against him and I just want to see how good I am. Test the goods. Am I good enough? – I don’t know, we will see and I would love to see against him.

“If things don’t work out though and Golovkin ducks the fight, I’d happily face Cotto instead. That’s a fight I’d really love,” added Saunders.
