Chris Eubank Jr: Gennady Golovkin is slow, can’t knock me out!

The 27 year-old was due to fight ‘GGG’ in September, although problems with the contract saw promoter Eddie Hearn offer the fight to Kell Brook instead and part ways with Eubank and his father.

As Eubank prepares to make his ITV Pay-Per-View debut on February 4 against Renold Quinlan, the former British middleweight champion gave his view on a potential future fight with Golovkin.

“In my opinion, he is slow,” Eubank Jr. told talkSPORT. “For every one punch that he would throw at me, I am going to throw five, six, seven punches.

“I know I have a chin, I know I can take a shot so if he is not going to knock me out, he is not going to beat me.”

The Briton’s assessment of Golovkin is sure to divide opinion as the four-belt champion is considered the best 160 pound in the world by some margin.

A victory against Danny Jacobs in March would cement that status should the 34 year-old be able to produce yet another knockout and move on to a clash with Eubank or even Mexican rival Canelo Alvarez in September.

Alvarez is the main target, although Golovkin could consider a temporary move up to 168 in order to face Eubank, which trainer Abel Sanchez recently informed WBN was a distinct possibility.
