WBC Diamond belt on the line, McGuigan predicts more convincing Frampton rematch win

Frampton scored a career-best win over the Mexican-American over the summer and heads into the return next month full of confidence having never lost in an impressive seven-year stint as a pro.

McGuigan, who has guided Frampton to a lofty position in the pound for pound ratings, expects an electric night at the MGM Grand as the Belfast man bids to secure his place as a featherweight force.

“I am looking forward to a terrific event in Las Vegas,” said McGuigan who is also a former world champion and Hall of Famer.

“”The first fight between Carl Frampton and Leo Santa Cruz was sensational and I truly believe that the rematch will be even better.

“I’m convinced that Carl will win the rematch more convincingly and beating someone like Leo Santa Cruz a second time will define Carl as true great of Irish boxing.

“I know everyone at Cyclone Promotions is proud to deliver a great night of boxing at MGM Grand where there will be a full action packed card of championship fights.”

The World Boxing Council confirmed that Frampton and Santa Cruz will once again contest the Diamond featherweight strap as the pair lined up at a press conference in Los Angeles last week.
