Keith Thurman: Danny Garcia is flat-footed, open to counters

‘One Time’ was a ringside observer for Premier Boxing Champions in Philadelphia as Garcia took out Vargas in seven rounds and sent a message to the WBC champion in the immediate aftermath of the bout.

“Danny can talk whatever he wants and Angel Garcia can say whatever he wants,” said Thurman. “They can talk smack all day. Danny is real flat-footed. I believe I’ll be able to be on the outside, see the wide punches and counter punch.

“They said he wanted the tune-up, now he’s ready to see me.

“You have two big punchers meeting on March 4. I don’t see how the fight can go 12 rounds. I see myself as the best competition that Danny has ever faced.”

Thurman has built an 80% knockout ratio through 27 wins and has been craving a big opportunity since landing his first recognized belt way back in 2013.

The Florida native is eyeing a breakout win to boost his statue in the pound for pound ratings before embarking on a bid to claim every championship on offer, beginning with Garcia’s green and gold strap in the spring of next year.
