The 37 year-old takes to the ring to challenge Jessie Vargas for the welterweight world title seven months on from an impressive showing against Timothy Bradley – which by Pacquiao standards was a PPV flop.
Pacquiao’s lucrative tussle with Floyd Mayweather in May 2015 is taking most of the flak as the pair of boxing legends share twelve underwhelming rounds which Arum is still attempting to recover from.
“We all know that people were disappointed by the pay-per-view with Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, so it’s hard to say what we can achieve this weekend but either way we expect good numbers for this event,” Arum told ESPN Deportes.
“Manny Pacquiao continues being one of the great attractions of the sport and we have a pretty good undercard.
“If things go as we expect, this card will be seen in China by about 80 or 100 million fans, which is something great and it’s the reason why the big sponsors came to this card.
“(Zou) Shiming is a major attraction there, and even in Hong Kong the fight will be on pay-per-view.”
Rumours are rife a knockout win for Pacquiao could once against entice Mayweather out of retirement for a rematch, although a second fight could expect considerably less revenue than the first blockbuster event.
