According to TMZ Sports, the 24 year-old was walking in the street when Benavidez was approached my a suspect who subsequently opened fire.

Benavidez, 25-0 as a pro and signed with Top Rank, was struck in his leg, although authorities have stated the Californian’s life is not in any danger.
