Davies is aiming to build on recent impressive performances that saw the Liverpool man pick up the WBA Continental belt against Jarkko Putkonen in March and successfully defend it a month later opposite Xavier Castillo.

In a bid to continue his progression, Marsh wants to see undefeated Davies take on a top domestic fighter and exciting former Commonwealth champion Hibbert, who is never in a dull contest, fits the bill perfectly.

“Last week I made a good offer for John Wayne Hibbert to fight Robbie Davies Jnr so hopefully the fight will happen,” Marsh told World Boxing News.

“It’s my belief that Robbie is the best 140 fighter in the UK and this year everyone will be able to see that. We have utmost respect for John and his team but business is business and I see this as a great fight to make.

“I really hope we can get this fight sealed as it will be great for the public and is an important step in the development of Robbie.”

Davies Jnr himself echoed the comments of Marsh in his assessment of the Hibbert fight.

“This fight is all about timing and learning,” said Davies. “Neil wants to get me right fights at the right time and we both agree that John Wayne Hibbert is that fight for me.”
