The German gave his views to WBN on old foe Krzysztof Glowacki’s mandatory defense against amateur star Oleksandr Usyk and still believes Alexander Povetkin can dethrone Deontay Wilder if their fight eventually goes ahead.
“I see Glowacki beating Usyk at this stage as he has way more experience,” Huck predicted exclusively to World Boxing News before turning his attention to Povetkin v Wilder and the controversy surrounding the fight.
“There is not much I can say about that. I just want to appeal to every athlete to ensure that our sport stays clean, but on the fights itself, I think Povetkin can beat Wilder and beat him easily.”
On his own future and a possible return to heavyweight, Huck – who battles Ovill McKenzie in September, said: “I just have a few more things to do at cruiserweight before I will step back up in weight. I always said that I want to return to heavyweight at some point in my career.”
Huck, 31, made the move up to 200 pound plus in February of 2012, losing a close majority decision to Povetkin at the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart.
The top division climate has altered significantly since then, with all the major champions now 6ft 6ins tall and more, giving the likes of Huck and Povetkin a mountain to climb in their bid to reach the summit of the sport.
