The 44 year-old flew to London earlier this year to goad Haye in his usual hands-on manner and was offered the chance to earn a fight by participating on the undercard to the Briton’s clash with Arnold Gjergjaj.
An easy first round victory over hapless Emilio Zarate followed, and Briggs then assumed he was in line to sign a contract to oppose Haye in his third comeback fight at the O2 Arena in London this fall.
Weeks passed without an official announcement from Team Haye and Briggs has now resorted back to the calling the ‘Hayemaker’ out on social media and in public when possible.
At the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Saturday night as Haye took in training partner Carl Frampton’s win over Leo Santa Cruz, Briggs followed the ex-two-weight world champion around but was unable to get a response.
Since then, ‘The Cannon’ has seemingly given up the ghost and could be ready to move on with his career.
“He let the people down that wanted to see me shatter his jaw,” said Briggs.
“He’s scared. I have to leave him alone now. I started it to see if he had heart. I know now he’s the Tin Man. He’s gotta go see the wizard. David get yo ass on to the Yellow Brick Road!”
