Exclusive: Martirosyan wants to KO ‘protected bitch’ Canelo, open to move up versus GGG or Chavez Jr

The Glendale fighter, 30, recently lost out via a competitive points decision in a rematch with Erislandy Lara and wants to get back to business as soon as possible.

One of his targets is two-weight world champion Canelo Alvarez who Martirosyan witnessed knocking out Amir Khan in spectacular fashion on May 7. Despite giving Canelo some kudos for the win, Martirosyan says the Mexican superstar damaged his reputation in giving up the WBC middleweight by not facing mandatory Gennady Golovkin and now wants to be the 25 year-old’s next opponent.

“I’m tired of all these fighters that always say they want to fight the best but don’t have the balls to do it,” Martirosyan exclusively told World Boxing News.

“They make guys go up or down in weight just so they have an advantage, and yes I’m talking about Canelo. I don’t think he is a real Mexican fighter. Mexicans are warriors and they don’t back down – especially after what he said after the fight (that he would fight Golovkin).

“Canelo has always been protected and he always gets gifts from the WBC. He only fights shot fighters and I believe I did more in the Lara fight then he did when he faced him. On that occasion, and once again, he got the win even when everybody knows Lara beat Canelo.

“Floyd made Canelo look like shit and Khan was also beating him before the stoppage. I can’t believe the scorecards before Canelo took Khan out. I mean, the KO was nice, but Kahn should of been ahead with the judges before the fight ended.”

If nothing transpires with a potential Canelo fight, Martirosyan has no problem gaining six pounds or more to hit the middleweight or even the super middleweight limit. Golovkin is on the lookout for an opponent in the coming months, whilst a fight with Julio Cesar Chavez also appeals after the pair shared a competitive spar at the Wild Card back in 2011.

“I would love to fight Chavez Jr. I hear he is looking for a comeback fight and I’ll fight him no problem,” he pointed out. “I’ll fight anyone that wants to fight me. I never ducked down as if I was protected like Canelo and I know I would be the best fight right now if GGG is having problems getting these guys to fight him. I’m a fighter and he doesn’t have to worry about anything because if I was offered the GGG fight I would say; ‘Yes let’s do it’ – because I didn’t become a boxer to be scared to fight someone.

“Canelo doesn’t have the balls. He only wants to fight guys smaller than him. I would stop Canelo, I know it. So let’s see how he deals with someone his own size that’s hitting him back. He lost respect from everyone, but I will solve the problem.

“Like I said, if I was offered to fight GGG I would say; ‘Fuck yeah, let’s do it’ – because I’m not a like bitch like Canelo who runs from everyone. He always wants some kind of advantage, but I’ll fight them at any weight, Canelo, GGG or Chavez Jr. Let’s go baby, lets fight!”
