Watch: GGG says Kell Brook is ‘too small’ – focus is on 160 champs

The 34 year-old halted previously undefeated Dominic Wade in just two rounds to push his record to 35-0 with all but three contests finishing before the final bell.

‘GGG’ has long stated that he wants to hold every title belt at the 160 pound limit and only needs to fight Canelo Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders to complete the set.

With the IBF, IBO, WBA and interim WBC in his possession, Golovkin has been put forward by the WBC to face Alvarez next, although the Mexican is stalling as he tries to grow into the middleweight limit.

In regards to Saunders, an offer was made to fight this month before attention was turned to Wade, but the Briton turned down the offer and has since suffered a hand injury.

Asked whether a catchweight encounter with welterweight champion Kell Brook was a possibility in the meantime following a call out from the IBF belt holder, Golovkin ruled out the fight and hopes the WBC will force Canelo’s hand.

“I think he’s too small (and) my focus is on 160, middleweight division,” said Golovkin.

“Why Canelo?  -Because he’s champion at middleweight (and) my goal is all the belts in the middleweight division.”

As Canelo has so far rebuffed any talk of facing Golovkin after his May 7 clash with Amir Khan, the likeliness is that the two-weight world title holder will give up the belt should he emerge victorious in Las Vegas next month.
