Exclusive: Mosley looks forward to continuing De La Hoya rivalry on Canelo v Khan bill

With the announcement that Oscar’s undefeated cousin Diego will fight Shane Mosley protégé  Rocco Santomauro, fans can look forward to another episode of De La Hoya versus Mosley.

“I am looking forward to being part of one of the biggest boxing events of 2016,” said Diego De La Hoya. “This is my chance to perform in front of a big stage and give everyone a great fight against another undefeated top fighter.”

In reply, Santomauro stated: “I am excited to get the chance to fight Diego De La Hoya, he is a top fighter and beating him puts me at the top,” said Rocco Santomauro. “I have Sugar Shane Mosley in my corner and he has trained me to make sure I keep my undefeated record. It’s going to be a battle to the end. I think a lot of people will be interested in the dynamic of this fight. I am going to use my new Mosley KO power. Just watch, on May 7 the boxing world will know that I have arrived.”

Multi-weight world title holder Mosley, who himself fights for the interim world title later this year, spoke exclusively to WBN in the wake of the release and is excited to rekindle his long-standing rivalry with De La Hoya.

“Mosley versus De La Hoya 3, well sort of…is just around the corner and it’s going to be on a massive card,” Mosley beamed to World Boxing News.

“My fighter Rocco Santomauro, who I have been training for just over a year, is fighting Diego De La Hoya on the Canelo v Khan undercard and we couldn’t be more ready to beat another De La Hoya.

“I think they underestimate Rocco because he has a non existent KO record. But that was before he started training with the KO King. I’ve got him on point and the De La Hoya’s have no idea what they got themselves into on this one, baby.

“The fact that I actually beat him in the amatuers as a kid at 13 and like Oscar as a person adds even more to it, but like me, Rocco loves to whoop a De La Hoya!

“I’m sure Oscar is interested to see what his family bloodline can do now against my ‘adopted son’ and fighter Rocco, but he’s like a son to me and I am teaching him everything I know,” he added.
