George Groves backs off Twitter following third world title loss

The 27 year-old fought well in an entertaining contest opposite WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack on the Floyd Mayweather v Andre Berto undercard, but just came up short when losing a split decision.

Groves has now failed in all three of his world title shots on the back of Carl Froch stopping him twice previously, and despite being known for his frequent use of Twitter and Instagram, has decided to either take a break – or go the extreme and delete his accounts completely.

WBN was informed by promoter Kalle Sauerland on Thursday that Groves will be back in the ring soon once he fully recovers from another high-profile reverse and hopes to land ‘The Saint’ a fourth chance in the near future.

A rematch with James DeGale has already been mentioned in the days since the Jack encounter which would give Groves the opportunity to fight it out with his arch-rival for the IBF version at 168 pounds.

DeGale is still rankled by defeats as both an amateur and a professional by Groves and a second fight would stir up massive interest on UK shores if both sides can reach an agreement in 2016.
