Hughie Fury talks Deontay Wilder, backs Tyson to shock Klitschko

Fury Sr. broke the news earlier this week regarding a potential chance at world glory next month and the 20 year-old says he would do everything in his power to pick up the coveted green belt if the fight ever came to fruition.

“When my dad mentioned it I laughed as we don’t take these things too serious,” Hughie told World Boxing News.

“Of course it could happen and I’m always working hard in the gym, but if it did I would fight my heart out to win it.

“Deontay Wilder is a good champion, although I see him being similar to myself and not the finished article.”

As of now, the Wilder fight is on the backburner as Fury prepares for a slot on the October 24 undercard of his cousin Tyson’s fight with world heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko, something the 16-0 fighter is looking forward to immensely.

“I’m over the moon to fight on this massive undercard,” said Hughie. “I’m going to lift my game to put on a show for the world.

“I’m not bothered who I face, but I want a top ranked respected fighter.

Asked how he sees the main event going, Hughie added: “I see Tyson shocking Klitschko, the world and being there for a long time afterwards.”

As Hughie is currently ranked at 33 by the WBC for July, any fight with Wilder isn’t possible as confirmed to WBN by Mauricio Sulaiman on Wednesday, although with the new World Boxing Council ratings due out this week, who knows if the rangy puncher will be given a timely boost.
