Klitschko wants Wilder’s belt

The 39 year-old, who is currently in possession of the WBA, WBO, IBO and IBF championships, has strong desires to hold the WBC crown brother Vitali defended ten times before retiring from the sport in 2012.

American Deontay Wilder cemented his position as the champion with the World Boxing Council on Saturday night with victory over Eric Molina in Alabama and could now have Klitschko knocking on his door in the coming months.

“Obviously he is one of my target opponents since he’s holding the title that I’ve never had before,” Klitschko told Ringside.

“I definitely want to unify all the belts, but it’s not a must. If that’s not going to work, I’ll still be the heavyweight champion of the world. It’s not a must, but it would be nice to unify that belt that Deontay Wilder holds,” he added.

‘Dr Steelhammer’ is locked in talks with Briton Fury, 26, about a meeting in Germany or the UK in the autumn, whilst undefeated Wilder has number one challenger Alexander Povetkin to deal with by the beginning of 2016.
