The 37 year-old is currently mulling over a clash with Golovkin or compatriot and new IBF champion James DeGale as well as retirement, but is excited by the prospect of battling ‘GGG’ in what would be a massive clash on the world stage.
“The only reason I’d like that fight is because it would be really difficult to win,” Froch told talkSPORT.
“He’s a tough kid, he’s unbeaten and he’s got a knock-out punch. I don’t think many people would give me a chance and you know what, that excites me. I like that.
“Call me stupid, call me brave, call me what you want and that’s a fight I can win.
“There are a lot of factors involved. If I could get myself fit, which is something I think I could do – although I’ve never had a year out of boxing before – I’d fight anybody,” he added.
‘The Cobra’ recently reached the first anniversary of his crushing knockout win over George Groves in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium and with that lost his lofty place in the WBN Pound for Pound rankings.
A victory over WBA and IBO middleweight king Golovkin, or indeed UK rival DeGale, would once again cement his place among the elite if it can be achieved as Froch gears up for an official announcement on his future in the coming days.
