Rios: Khan is a beast, fight with Brook comes down to how he takes a punch

Rios, 28, is hoping to nail down a fight with ‘The Special One’ after being called out by the champ last week, but says if the Yorkshireman did face Khan in the near future, the fight may solely come down to whether Brook can catch the Bolton man flush.

Khan, who ruled himself out of facing Brook in favour of meeting Chris Algieri, has been knocked out twice in his career thus far but has been impressive since moving up to 147 and Rios would be an interested spectator if the British fight did come about.

“Amir Khan is just a beast, Khan is fast and it would be a good fight,” Rios told World Boxing News.

“We’ll see how that fight turns out, but will it be Amir Khan’s chin and how he takes a punch from Brook or Amir Khan being too much him, we don’t know yet. It would be a good fight to see and I would love to watch it, but apart from that I would like to fight Kell Brook myself.

“When it comes to fight me fighting Khan, I’d fight anybody. My manager Cameron Dunkin looks out for my best interests and he gets the best fights out there that he possibly can, so I leave everything up to him because that is why I pay him.”

British fans have been craving a home battle at Wembley Stadium between Khan and Brook, but with that fight off the table for the time being, Rios would certainly be seen as a stellar alternative for ‘The Special One’ this summer.
