Julio Cesar Chavez Jr indicates Carl Froch fight could be on

The 28 year-old, who is now campaigning at 168lbs after ruling at middleweight between 2011 and 2012, has been linked to a clash with Briton Froch since the summer and has set tongues wagging by sending out a mock-up picture of a potential battle.

It’s no secret that Froch made Chavez his number one target after demolishing George Groves for a second time in May and has instructed promoter Eddie Hearn to seal his lifelong dream of a headline fight in Las Vegas.

Talks between Matchroom and Top Rank had cooled down earlier in the autumn, but Hearn recently stated that he was keen to spark up negotiations with Chavez and his team once again – leading to this latest post by the second generation star.

A fight between the two of the biggest names either side of the Atlantic would surely be a pay-per-view success Stateside should contracts be signed for the encounter, which would see Froch defend his WBA and IBF titles on HBO and Sky Sports Box Office.

Nothing official has been released from Hearn or Bob Arum yet regarding the potential 168lb blockbuster on January 31, but judging by Chavez’s latest social media offering, a war with Froch is at the forefront of his mind for 2015.
