Phil Lo Greco hunts next mission after missing out on Victor Ortiz

The 29 year-old had hoped to land the returning Ortiz for his next fight as ‘The Italian Sensation’ himself looks to comeback from a defeat, but he is now back to square one and ticking over in the gym.

“Training is going well. I’m in Vegas training Miguel Diaz and we are working on something hopefully by the end of the year,” Lo Greco told World Boxing News.

“At this point, you want to fight and keep on fighting the best. It’s the only way your going to get better by having solid opposition in front of you.

“I wanted the Victor Ortiz fight but it didn’t work out, so now I got nothing. I am just keeping going and doing what I have to do to stay in shape.”

Lo Greco lost to Shawn Porter last time out in what was his first defeat from 26 pro fights and has found it hard to swallow as Devon Alexander announced ‘Showtime’ as his next world title challenger.

There are no sour grapes from the talented fighter though, who believes Porter has all the attributes to run Alexander close and may be able to cause an upset when he fights for the IBF title next month.

“I think Porter has a great chance and I wish him well,” said Lo Greco.

“I have to secure a fight and win that, but who knows further down the road if I could get a rematch as you always want to avenge your losses.”
