The Belfast fighter, who has won all 17 of his professional contests, is highly-ranked by the four major organisations and is said to prefer a rematch with the current IBF champion Kiko Martinez at some point in the coming months.
Frampton made easy work of his latest defence of his EBU title against Jemery Parodi – which also doubled up as an IBF belt eliminator, although hasn’t defend his Commonwealth version since stopping Steve Molitor in 2012.
The 26 year-old still has a fringe strap with the IBF in his possession and could now be just one fight away from securing his dream of a championship bout against Martinez, whom he defeated in nine rounds earlier this year.
“Carl Frampton has represented both the Commowealth Boxing Council and the European Boxing Union extremely well in his time as champion, of which we are sure both Simon Block of the CBC and Enza Jacaponi of the EBU will attest to.
“In relinquishing these titles Carl will afford a fantastic opportunity for four aspiring boxers to contest for these two vacant and highly valuable championships,” manager and promoter Barry McGuigan told the Belfast Telegraph today.
