Nicholas Walters impresses on Top Rank debut, blasts out Alberto Garza in four

The 27 year-old was clearly looking to put on a show on his United States debut and had Garza in trouble in the very first round. The writing was seemingly on the wall from that point on for Garza, who didn’t have the tools to fend of the advances of the ‘Axe Man.’.

Walters went through the motions for the next couple of rounds until a low blow in the fourth halted the action whilst Garza took a breather. Immediately upon the resumption of the contest, Walters seemed to hit another borderline shot, but followed it up with huge right hand that put Garza’s lights out.

The referee didn’t bother to count as Garza lay prone on the canvas and Walters could celebrate a standout technical knockout victory – with some bigger fights to come in the near future.

WBA ‘super’ title holder Chris John could be one option, along with WBO champion Orlando Salido, both of which would be huge unification clashes and would be hard to pick a winner from.

The big-hitting Jamaican has certainly announced himself as a player in the bustling 126lb division and couldn’t have done much more to impress his new employers than he did at the American Bank Center.
