Victor Ortiz returns to fight Luis Collazo in January

The 26 year-old, who has lost his last two fights against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Josesito Lopez respectively, has been concentrating on his success outside of boxing with starring roles on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and the forthcoming ‘Expendables 3’ blockbuster.

Ortiz has been rubbing shoulders with the likes of Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham during filming in the summer and will now focus on returning to winning ways in his first profession at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Opponent Collazo, 32, lost his WBA welterweight title to Ricky Hatton in 2006 before failing to dethrone Ortiz’s old rival Andre Berto for the WBC belt in 2009 and is currently enjoying a run of three straight victories.

The New Yorker has lost a total of five bouts from his 39 outings, with the southpaw looking to claim the biggest scalp of his career and put a further dent in the chances of Ortiz gaining other title shot himself.

An official announcement is yet to be made by Golden Boy Promotions, although Collazo has confirmed the fight this weekend and will get home advantage when the pair collide in the New Year.
