Golovkin’s manager: Report not true, but GGG wants Murray next

Hermann, who has helped guide Golovkin to his current status as one of the most feared punchers in the sport, joined Golden Gloves promoter Rodney Berman in dismissing the rumours the fight is agreed at this point.

“If it would be true, it would be perfect fight for all boxing fans in Europe,” Hermann told World Boxing News.

“The problem is that it’s not true what the press are writing and we were are not expecting any confirmation for Murray to fight GGG in Monaco right now.”

The two fighter’s are believed to be keen on a meeting, which has already been stipulated by the WBA, although the timing of the announcement by The Mail has now been criticised by two close allies to Golovkin – with Hermann seemingly more positive about the end result.

“I can say that Gennady want this fight and is ready to fight Murray next, the only problem is that what has been said through Murray or the press in not true at this moment,” added Hermann.

These latest comments by Hermann seem to indicate that the fight may indeed happen on the date in question, but it’s just the timing of the reports that have possibly backed Team Golovkin into a corner – where they feel they have to deny the rumours until the official statement.

This certainly won’t be the last of the situation as it stands.
