Floyd Mayweather set to fight in the UK

The 36 year-old, who defends his title on May 4 against Robert Guerrero in Las Vegas, has long stated his love for the UK fans and now intends to make the ultimate gesture of thanks by staging a fight on British soil.

Ellerbe revealed the plans on respected boxing broadcaster Steve Bunce’s Boxing Hour show recently as part of the promotional work for Mayweather’s upcoming title defence on the UK-based BoxNation network.

“We cannot wait until we can come over to the UK and give the fans what they want. Floyd will definitely be coming to the UK – they are his biggest and best fans,” Ellerbe told Bunce.

“It’s definitely a very, very strong possibility that Floyd Mayweather will fight in the UK.”

Mayweather is currently in the infancy of his mammoth deal with Showtime in America, of which ‘Money’ intends to fight six times over the next few years, one of which could now be across the Atlantic.

At 43-0 and with the biggest pulling power in sport, a Mayweather trip to Britain would be big business for all concerned – barring there are no slip-ups against the dangerous Guerrero this Saturday night in Nevada.
