Wawrzyk promoter calls Klitschko v Povetkin bid outrageous, has doubts

Undefeated Wawrzyk, who has an impressive 27-0 record on paper, faces Povetkin on May 17, although the Russian now has a shot at Klitschko lined-up three months later and may be guilty of taking his eye of the Pole.

“The fight between Andrej Wawrzyk and Alexander Povetkin goes ahead,” Margules clarified to World Boxing News as reports that the fight was in danger raised their head after the purse bid.

He then added his scepticism by stating: “The Klitschko v Povetkin is an outrageous one and I understand the party who won the bid has no experience so let’s just see what happens.”

25 year-old Wawrzyk, who has thirteen stoppages on his record, will hope to gazump the touted Moscow fight himself against Povetkin next month and make the mega-money offer obsolete by claiming the WBA title.
