Latest rankings reveal boost

The World Boxing Organisation have installed interim champion Ricky Burns as their new full title holder at lightweight after his standout win over Michael Katsidis in November 2011.

The 28 year-old claimed the interim version on the night at Wembley Arena but has now been given the full belt following uncertainty over when previous champion Juan Manuel Marquez was due to defend the title.

The Mexican multi-weight champion is rumoured to be moving up the weights as he seeks super-fights at 140 and 147lbs on the back of his performance against Manny Pacquiao at the back end of last year.

Scotsman Burns is due to make his first defence of the title on March 10th against Namibian Paulus Moses in Glasgow and now goes into the battle as a fully-fledged two-weight world champion following his reign at 130lbs.
