‘B-Hop’ to remake first defence

Bernard Hopkins will finally make the first defence of his WBC light-heavyweight title against Chad Dawson after both fighters agreed a date of April 28th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

The oldest world champion of all time at 47, Hopkins took the belt from Jean Pascal in a rematch last May before a controversial first bout with Dawson last October that ended in farcical circumstances.

‘The Executioner’ injured his shoulder following what looked more like a wrestling move by Dawson, 29, in the second round of their first meeting at The Staples Center in California after a dreary first round and the pair will now try again after the WBC re-ordered a second bout.

HBO look favourites to show the return with an undercard to be added in the coming weeks.
