Malignaggi awaits offers from Alexander and Maidana

The 30 year-old, who is due to return to the ring in January or February next year, was first of all embroiled in a war of words with Alexander, 24, before ‘The Twitter King’ then turning his attention to a friendly social networking negotiation with Argentinian Maidana about a possible future bout.

Alexander has since spoken up in the press about a meeting with Malignaggi, using some choice words as a reminder to the ‘Magic Man’ and the New Yorker now admits that if the deal to face him is put on the table and agreeable, he is likely to accept the fight.

Any potential contest could be a WBC welterweight title eliminator as ‘The Great’ is ranked number one and Malignaggi is currently at number seven in the latest rankings.

“I am not 100% sure what’s going to happen yet,” Malignaggi told World Boxing News.

“I am waiting for the offer for the Devon fight and Maidana might have to be put on at a later date.

“I’ll worry about Devon when everything gets cleared. Then will see who’s afraid of who.”

Former IBF light-welterweight champion Malignaggi is convinced that a headline fight with either of the two would make for an entertaining match-up and may even aim to for a bout with both boxers in the coming year.

“Alexander has good boxing ability and Maidana is a comeforward, raw, rugged fighter, but both of these fights would be good for the fans.

“Hopefully, me and Maidana can step in the ring one day as it would be a great fight and the fans wanted to see it,” he added.
