‘The Boz’ touted for December 3rd bout in Helsinki

Evander Holyfield may have to wait until early 2012 to challenge Alexander Povetkin as the Russian’s team look likely to pursue a voluntary defence against another American, Cedric Boswell for the December 3rd date in Finland.

Holyfield , who turns 49 tomorrow, was sitting ringside as Povetkin, 32, claimed the WBA title in August after being brought over by Sauerland as a potential first defence for the winner. It now seems that Povetkin is willing to wait until March or April to face Holyfield and will instead look at the possibility of taking on Boswell (35-1, 26 KO’s).

Hasim Rahman’s name has also been mentioned but negotiations are thought to have stalled with the former WBC champion and Atlanta-based Boswell may now get the green light to fight for his first world championship in Helsinki.
