Former amateur champion doubtful for BoxNation contest

WBO Inter-Continental welterweight champion Frankie Gavin’s next fight is in jeopardy with just thirty hours to go until the bout goes live on BoxNation tomorrow night.

Gavin, 26, is due to take on Frenchman Frank Haroche Horta at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester tomorrow night although Boxing News Editor Tris Dixon has reported that the Birmingham-born fighter has walked out on the fight.

More developments are expected to unfold in the coming hours and no official confirmation that the bout is cancelled has been distributed but Gavin’s reputation for shocks will not be helped by this latest revelation.

At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Gavin was chosen as the sole participant in his weight class to represent Great Britain only to fail the weight and leave the competition without fighting a single bout.
