Chisora ready to face ‘The War Machine’

Dereck Chisora makes his eagerly-anticipated return to the ring next week after losing for the first time in July and surrendering his British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles to Tyson Fury at Wembley Arena.

The 27 year-old returns to the same venue for an eight-rounder against ‘Big’ Larry Olubamiwo on the undercard of Ricky Burns’ world title showdown with Michael Katsidis and trainer Don Charles believes that his man has made the correct adjustments to deal with his first defeat.

“Derek’s total attitude has changed since he lost to Fury,” Charles told barnet-today.co.uk.

“He initially went into his shell after that defeat, but it definitely seems to have had a good effect on him now.

“He’s been destroying his sparring partners, and he was never like that before. He’s developed a real eye of the tiger and has got rid of quite a few hangers-on who were just there for the glory.

“It’s a good comeback fight for Derek to have.”

‘Del Boy’ has been relatively quiet by his standards since the Fury disappointment and has also had to deal with two world title fights being cancelled over the past year by unified champion Wladmir Klitschko, who opted instead to face David Haye.

Chisora will go into the Olubamiwo return as a strong favourite after ‘The War Machine’ was taken apart in a round by British title challenger John McDermott as the man mountain looked vulnerable from the outset in his last bout.

The Hackney fighter, 33, had previously knocked out nine of his opponents, eight in the first two rounds and will need a good showing against his fellow-Londoner to get back in the domestic mix.
