‘Hayemaker’ ready to turn to the next chapter

Former two-weight world champion David Haye says it is up to the Klitschko brothers as to whether he steps back into a boxing ring again after retiring earlier this month to pursue an acting career.

The 31 year-old, who captured the heavyweight title in 2009 against 7ft giant Nikolai Valuev, has always left the door open for a return against either of the Ukrainian brothers, but for the first time has questioned whether the offer will come.

"You never know, there's always another chapter,” Haye stated to AFP.

“Whether it's me retiring and you never hear from me again, or because I go out there and become a big success with the acting. It's the end of one chapter and there are plenty of chapters to come in the rest of my life.

"Only time will tell whether the Klitschkos need me more than I need them.

"They won't believe that. But it depends what they want out of boxing. If they want guaranteed easy victories then they can do what they've always done but if they want a tough challenge you'd think they would want to beat down my door.

"But if they're not interested in fighting then fair enough, I've moved on. It obviously wasn't meant to be."

Haye is rumoured to have a bit-part in the upcoming Brit Flick Service Man, which stars former child star Macaulay Culkin and the more time that passess, it will make it increasingly difficult for the Londoner to be enticed back into boxing.
