MMA bout causes rematch to be rescheduled

Eric ‘Butterbean’ Esch’s first boxing match in over two years has been put back to January 13th 2012 after the Alambama-based fighter fought in an MMA event in the week leading up to his rematch with Curt Allan.

The 45 year-old was due to participant in his 90th professional bout last night but will now have to wait until after Christmas to lace up the boxing gloves once again.

Opponent Allan, 47, whom ‘Butterbean’ stopped in three rounds fourteen years ago, has issued an apology to fans who bought tickets and explained that they will still be available for the rescheduled date next year.

“I'd like to apologise to everyone who has been inconvenienced by the date of this event being changed,” stated Allan.

“Butterbean participated in an MMA event last Friday night and due to the Athletic Division's interpretation of this ruling, they will not sanction our bout as a professional boxing event. This means they would have us wear 16 oz sparring gloves and head gear.

“We both agreed that this is not what everyone paid money to see, a pillow fight with head gear on, so we have rescheduled the fight for January the 13th at the boat.

“If you have already bought tickets, your seats remain the same. If you'd like a refund, contact me here http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1638437737 and I will refund your money for the ticket.”

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you.
