Bob Arum: Floyd Mayweather v Manny Pacquiao will never, ever happen

Top Rank boss pours scorn of possible super-fight

"That fight will never, ever, ever happen because of Mayweather,” that is Top Rank CEO Bob Arum’s latest statement on a possible fight between his top fighter Manny Pacquiao and arch-nemesis Floyd Mayeather Jr.

The 80 year-old promoter made the honest assessment in a recent interview with ESPN L.A ahead of Pacquiao’s third instalment with Juan Manuel Marquez in just over two weeks’ time.

Arum is convinced that Mayweather is stalling on a future money-spinning fight between the world’s two best fighters and has accused the American of running scared from the ‘Pacman’ as a bout is no closer to being agreed than it ever has been.

"When Mayweather talks about how he hates Top Rank he's talking bulls**t. What Mayweather hates is Manny's right hand. Mayweather has no chin and Manny will knock him out. Pacquiao and Mayweather is a three or four round fight, period.

"Maybe the promoters cannot afford him. I think that's the reason. The promoters cannot afford him. What he's asking is hard."

Mayweather is still yet to announce his next move after dispatching of Victor Ortiz in his latest PPV event where the Grand Rapids fighter picked up the WBC welterweight title with a controversial knockout victory.

It is possible that the five-weight world champion is awaiting the outcome of Pacquiao v Marquez before making his intentions public, but whether the fight everyone wants to see can be made for 2012 is anyone’s guess at this point.
