IBF champion makes first defence next month

Newly-crowned IBF featherweight champion Billy ‘The Kid’ Dib is to make the first defence of his red belt against the undefeated Italian southpaw Alberto Servidei on November 19th in is native Sydney, Australia.

The 26 year-old won his first world title in July, overcoming Jorge Lacierva to claim the vacant belt at the Olympic Park Sports Centre and now faces his first challenger to his 126lb crown.

Servidei, 36, has 31 wins and two draws in his twelve-year professional career but steps out of his Emilia Romagna comfort zone for the first time as he makes the lengthy trip down under.

On the same night in Acapulco, former two-weight world title holder Hugo Cazares returns to the ring after suffering his seventh career-loss and losing his WBA super-flyweight belt to Tomonobu Shimizu in Japan last August.

The 33 year-old is, on paper, easing back in gently against Filipino Jhunriel Ramonal, 22, who already has four defeats on his seventeen-fight record.

‘El Increible’ shares top billing with undefeated light-welterweight prospect Roberto Ortiz, who will look to rack-up his 22nd victory in 23 bouts against Prince Doku Jr.
